PREECE, John Frederick (1890-1934)
Stoke Newington c1905; St Pancras 1906-1934 (CL 1922)
ST PANCRAS, with its one library at Highgate on the outskirts of the metropolitan borough, was one of the least progressive library authorities during his term of office. He did his best to stimulate improvements and to build up local support and became a local historian of note. He was the son of George Preece.
